A wonderfully warm example of Atlantic Canadian studio pottery, this charming vintage lamp features a hand-thrown stoneware base by Monique Duclos of Saint-Isidore, New Brunswick. The softly rounded form is finished in a creamy ivory glaze and beautifully hand-painted with a loose, expressive botanical motif of deep burgundy-purple berries, green leaves and slender stems.
The combination of the organic form, painterly decoration and subtle variations in the glaze gives this piece that unmistakable handcrafted, one-of-a-kind character that makes Canadian studio pottery so appealing. Fitted as a table lamp with a simple contemporary linen shade, it bridges vintage craftsmanship and relaxed modern coastal interiors beautifully.
The underside bears the incised Monique Duclos signature, making the maker readily identifiable.
Monique Duclos established her pottery studio in Saint-Isidore, New Brunswick, where she produced both functional and decorative stoneware. Her work became sufficiently recognized that she was commissioned by the Province of New Brunswick to create an official collection featuring the provincial flower, the purple violet.  Her pottery continues to appear in Canadian auctions and the vintage market, with signed pieces ranging from functional tableware to larger decorative forms.
