Highly sought after, the ‘Plaza’ pattern reminiscent of Place Vendôme in Paris was designed by famed French designer Raymond Loewy for Rosenthal porcelain. Raymond Loewy is also known for such projects as the Studebaker, the Coca-Cola bottle and the interior of Air Force One for JFK. Rosenthal (Germany) produced these from 1961 to 1964, a true midcentury creation.
When smoking was popular, even non-smokers would have a table lighter and ashtray in their lounge to accommodate any guest who might want to enjoy a cigarette, and this would have been the perfect hosts set.
There is a Ronson table lighter (never used), two individual ashtrays, a porcelain lidded box for keeping cigarettes and a large platter to hold it all.
