Just before we slip into winter’s comforting arms, let me show you this beautiful neoclassical bisque plate entitled ‘Fall’ or ‘Manhood’ after Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770-1844).
It is a bas-relief of a man carrying a stick over his shoulder with game hanging off one end and grapes on the other, a dog by his side. He stands in front of a seated woman nursing a child, a grape vine hanging overhead.
Love this as part of a gallery wall to add some dimension.
