A quintessential coastal scene, ‘Hey Charlie’ harkens back to a time when fishermen were a daily sight at wharves in Nova Scotia’s coastal fishing communities.

Betty Bonn (1931 - 2015) was a self-taught painter who began painting in 1994, and for whom it became a serious pastime in 2004.

Especially touching, as the handwritten note indicates, this was one of her first paintings ‘for Charles and Dad’.
